Video: Lana Del Rey, “National Anthem”…

In any early episode of Mad Men, Don Draper and crew created an ad concept for Playtex, asking women if they were a Marilyn or a Jackie. In the video for “National Anthem” Lana Del Rey bucks the concept of either/or, kicking off the clip with an interpretation of Monroe’s saucy “Happy Birthday Mr. President” to a JFK-portraying A$AP Rocky. Ultimately, Del Rey becomes Jackie; as for Rocky, well, we all know how this ends. (via The Fader…)

Watch a Four-Minute Trailer for “National Anthem”, Starring A$AP Rocky as JFK to Lana Del Rey’s Jackie…

As promised, Lana Del Rey enlisted A$AP Rocky to play JFK to her Jackie O in the new video for Born to Die cut “National Anthem”. Here’s a trailer (it’s four minutes long, but repeats the same images over and over again) for the video, directed by Anthony Mandler. “Some cool trippy shit, some real 2015 shit”, Rocky said about the video. “People are going to get it in three years, and that’s the whole purpose of it.” Can’t wait until 2015 comes and I can get on this level. At her June 3rd show at L.A.’s El Rey Theatre, singer Lana Del Rey debuted a new song titled “Body Electric.” Del Rey performed a short 10-song set, inserting the new track inside her encore-free performance. With sparse instrumentation and Del Rey’s smoky voice, “Body Electric” delivers more downtempo melancholy from the sultry songstress. There’s no word yet on where the new track will appear. Video: Lana Del Rey, “Carmen”…

Did “Carmen” always have an Erik Satie sample at the end, or is this just a special add-on for the video? Is Erik Satie’s oeuvre public domain, and if so, how much does one pay for a sample of Gymnopédie No.1? So many questions, which I could easily find answers to if it somehow didn’t seem more appropriate, in this case, for blind conjecture. (Read More and Video via The Fader…)

The man who co-wrote Lana Del Rey’s ‘Video Games’ has admitted that “no-one liked it” from her record label when they first heard the track.

Justin Parker receives writing credits for five tracks on the singer’s debut album, ‘Born To Die’, which was released by Polydor in January.

A$AP Rocky Calls Lana Del Rey His “Dream Girl,” Working With Santigold…
"I first had a crush on her from seeing her on the Internet."

Billboard’s hip-hop blog The Juice recently spoke with A$AP Rocky about his collaboration with Lana Del Rey on “Ridin’”. There seemed to be some mutual admiration within the song itself— if you recall, A$AP raps, “Lana, that’s my bitch/ You could tell by the swagga and the lips.” But that was only the tip of the iceberg. A$AP says Lana is the girl of his dreams:

You didn’t know about me being a huge Lana Del Rey fan? That’s all I kept talking about all winter. I first had a crush on her from seeing her on the Internet— I fell in love with her voice the first time I heard it. I probably heard it in July, August for the first time, I think it was “Blue Jeans.” And from then on, I’m like…I love her!

'Hunger Games' Lana Del Rey Parody By Chicago Comedian Hits iTunes…

A Chicago comedian’s viral video parody of Lana Del Rey’s “Video Games,” rewritten to recap the book-turned-blockbuster “Hunger Games,” made the leap from YouTube to iTunes earlier this month.

Written by and starring Second City veteran Holly Laurent, it mimics Del Rey’s signature collage-style video, interspersed with shots of an angsty, bouffant-ed Laurent singing about Gayle, Peeta, the Capital and more references to Suzanne Collins bestselling young adult series, from the perspective of protagonist Katniss Everdeen.

"Hunting in the meadow, Gale’s this guy that I know, he’s got a girl’s name," (Read More and Watch Video HERE…)
