In the video for “National Anthem” Lana Del Rey bucks the concept of either/or, kicking off the clip with an interpretation of Monroe’s saucy “Happy Birthday Mr. President” to a JFK-portraying A$AP Rocky. As promised, Lana Del Rey enlisted A$AP Rocky to play JFK to her Jackie O in the new video for Born to Die cut “National Anthem”. Here’s a trailer (it’s four minutes long, but repeats the same images over and over again) for the video, directed by Anthony Mandler. “Some cool trippy shit, some real 2015 shit”, Rocky said about the video. “People are going to get it in three years, and that’s the whole purpose of it.” Can’t wait until 2015 comes and I can get on this level. Singer Performs New Song at the El Rey Theatre…
At her June 3rd show at L.A.’s El Rey Theatre, singer Lana Del Rey debuted a new song titled “Body Electric.” Del Rey performed a short 10-song set, inserting the new track inside her encore-free performance. With sparse instrumentation and Del Rey’s smoky voice, “Body Electric” delivers more downtempo melancholy from the sultry songstress. There’s no word yet on where the new track will appear. Rapper Will Headline the 1Xtra Stage at the June Event…
Nas has been added to the line-up for BBC Radio 1’s Hackney Weekend event, a huge outdoor festival set to take place this summer to celebrate the 2012 Olympic Games.
The event will take place on London’s Hackney Marshes on June 23–24 and will hold up to 100,000 people. Rihanna will headline the event’s second night (June 24), with Jay-Z closing the show on the event’s opening night (June 23).
Nas will headline the BBC Radio 1Xtra Stage at the event on the Sunday (June 24). He joins the likes of Florence and The Machine, Lana Del Rey, Enter Shikari and Plan B in appearing on that day, with one ‘Special Guest’ still left to be confirmed. (More at NME…)

The man who co-wrote Lana Del Rey’s ‘Video Games’ has admitted that “no-one liked it” from her record label when they first heard the track.
Justin Parker receives writing credits for five tracks on the singer’s debut album, ‘Born To Die’, which was released by Polydor in January.
“They didn’t think it was a single,” Parker told BBC’s Newsbeat. “It was quite amazing because me and Lana thought it was brilliant.” (Read More at NME…)
